Chelsea Football Club have confirmed the contract extension of its first-team defender, Reece James.

The news was confirmed on the official website of the Blues on Monday, September 5th, 2022. According to reports from Stamford Bridge, James signed a six-year deal which is expected to keep him at the club at least until the summer of 2028.
James expressed his delight as it concerns his new contract with the Blues, and he also thanked everyone at Chelsea for the support that they have shown him since he graduated to the first team. The versatile player is expected to be the highest-paid defender in the history of the Chelsea.
I am over the moon with my new contract and I’m thankful for the fans, the new ownership and everyone involved in the club. I cannot wait to see what the future holds, and I am sure we will have the chance of winning many trophies. I grew up supporting this club and I’ve been here since I was a six-year-old. I put pen to paper on a new deal because this is the club I want to be at. I’d like to say a special thanks to the fans, I am here to stay and we have a bright future ahead of us.
James has been in fantastic form since he broke into the first team of the Blues during the 2020/21 football season. He scored six goals and had 10 assists at the end of that season.
