Nicolas Jackson wrote his name in the history books when he scored a hat trick in the London derby against Tottenham.

The Senegalese has been criticised by Chelsea supporters following his lack of confidence in front of goal since the beginning of the 2023/24 football season. He scored the last three goals of the game against Spurs, his first came in the 75th minute while he scored the other two less than five minutes before the end of the game.

The manager of the Blues, Mauricio Pochettino has reacted to the goals scored by the forward man, which took his tally in the league to five goals in 11 Premier League games.

He said,

"It’s about building his confidence. We know when a striker is young and arrives at a club like Chelsea it is massive. I hope this hat trick can allow him to play more relaxed, and find the confidence he needs."

The result against Spurs puts the Blues in 10th place on the league table having enmassed 15 points in its first 11 league games.

Chelsea supporters will hope Jackson continues to find the back of the net in more games going into the season. The Blues face Manchester City next in the league on Sunday, November 12, 2023.
