Manchester City have confirmed the signing of one of Erling Haaland's teammates from Borussia Dortmund on a long-term deal.

The announcement of Manuel Akanji was made on the official website of the Cityzens on Thursday, September 1st, 2022. According to reports from the Manchester club, the 27-year-old signed a five-year deal with the Premier League Champions which will keep him at the club until the summer of 2027.
Akanji is known for his outstanding abilities in the defence as he was a key of the Dortmund team for four-and-half years. He made 158 appearances during him with the Black and Yellows, winning the German Super Cup in 2019 and the German Cup in 2020/21.
He expressed his excitement on the club's website and said he could not wait to get started with the Manchester club.

Akanji began his career at FC Winterthur in Switzerland before moving to Basel, where he played for three seasons before completing a move to Dortmund during the transfer window in January 2018.
