Sky Sports News confirmed the news on Tuesday, September 14th, 2021, after Klopp confirmed this in a press conference before the Champions League game against AC Milan on Wednesday. Leeds United have appealed against the red card shown to Pascal Struijk's by the referee Craig Pawson after a VAR intervention.

I spoke to him right after the game. He was in the best possible place. He had accepted already that he would be out for a while.

He is in London and will have the surgery today (Tuesday). That is the next step on the way back and we will wait for news on that.

Elliot has decided not to blame Struijk for his injury, describing it as a "freak accident", according to a post on his official Instagram account.
