The first premier league manager in the 2023/2024 club football season has been sacked according to recent reports.
The high expectations of the Premier League coming to an end in 2023 without any manager getting sacked have been thwarted according to recent reports as the first manager of the 2023/2024 Premier League season has been sacked today, Monday, December 4, 2023.
According to reports Sheffield United have parted ways with Paul Heckingbottom following the poor run of form of the side since they returned to the premier league.
With Paul Heckingbottom's sack looming in the past, reports indicate that the 5-1 defeat in the hands of Burnely had been the icing on the cake in helping the owners of the club make their final decision.
In his post-match press conference with BBC, Heckingbottom expressed his frustration in not being able to get results with his side in the league. He said, “I wanted to keep the group together but we couldn’t. We couldn’t because of the last few years and the financial implications. If we’d tied them down [on longer contracts] then we probably wouldn’t have sold those players. There wasn’t a desire from the ownership to sell, but a necessity from a business point of view. We’ve been making financial decisions rather than football decisions. Of course that affects me. I didn’t want it to happen.”
