Where to watch AFCON 2025 for free in the UK?
Fans in the UK will be able to watch the entire 2025 Africa Cup of Nations for free after Channel 4 secured exclusive rights to the tournament in a landmark deal with CAF.
For the first time, every match of the competition will be available free-to-air, with all 52 games broadcast live across Channel 4, E4, 4Seven, Channel 4 Streaming and the Channel 4 Sport YouTube channel.
The tournament takes place in Morocco from 21 December 2025 to 18 January 2026, and coverage will be produced by IMG, which also facilitated the agreement as CAF’s international media rights and sponsorship agency.
The 24-team competition will be played across nine stadiums and will feature several Premier League players. Egypt, led by Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah and Manchester City’s Omar Marmoush, will face Zimbabwe on 22 December before meeting South Africa on Boxing Day, with the latter being shown live on Channel 4 at 3 pm.
Other Premier League names expected at the tournament include Bryan Mbeumo for Cameroon, Amad Diallo and Noussair Mazraoui for hosts Morocco, Iliman Ndiaye and Idrissa Gueye for Senegal, Alex Iwobi and Calvin Bassey for Nigeria, Aaron Wan-Bissaka for DR Congo, Ismaila Sarr for Senegal and Emmanuel Agbadou for Côte d’Ivoire.
Channel 4’s head of sport, Pete Andrews, said the deal provides football fans with a new festive viewing option, especially with traditional Boxing Day Premier League coverage scaled back.
CAF general secretary Véron Mosengo-Omba described the agreement as historic, saying it will bring AFCON into more UK homes than ever before and further cement the tournament’s status as a major global football event.
