Nigerian singer Wizkid has lost the Best Global Music Performance category at the 64th Grammy Awards in Las Vegas today, Sunday, April 3, 2022, to the talented singer Arooj Aftab.

Aftab’s rendition of Mohabbat earned her the Grammy Award at the 64th Edition for the Best Global Music Performance category announced at the pre-show of the award ceremony today.

The Pakistani composer and singer bagged her first-ever Grammy Award ahead of Femi Kuti, Wizkid, Tems, Angélique Kidjo, Burna Boy, and Yo-Yo Ma. In her acceptance speech, Aftab stated:

“I think I’m gonna faint. Wow thank you so much. I feel like this category in and of itself has been so insane,” “Burna Boy, Wizkid, Femi Kuti, Angélique Kidjo—should this be called Best World Music Performance? I feel like it should be called ‘yacht party category.’ But, anyway, thank you so much to everyone who helped me make this record, all my incredible collaborators, for following me and making this music I made about everything that broke me and put me back together. Thank you for listening to it and making it yours.”
