Teni to release new single 'Lanke' at midnight

Teni The Entertainer, a Nigerian musical favourite, takes to X to announce a new single ‘Lanke’ which will drop at midnight tonight.

It looks like August is the month that just keeps on giving. On August 30, 2023, Teni took to her X page on the app formerly known as Twitter to announce a surprise drop. 

To the excitement of the industry and her fans worldwide, Teni announces that she will be dropping a new single at midnight. The artist made this announcement with a funny caption referencing Burna Boy’s comments that he’s not an afrobeats artiste. See the tweet here:

From what we know, the title of the song is Lanke. However, any other details are still under wraps for now. The song will be available for streaming on all audio platforms at midnight, on August 31, 2023.

Born Teniola Apata, Teni is the younger sister of fellow veteran Nigerian musician, Niniola.  She gained popularity on the Nigerian music scene after the release of her hit ‘Fargin’. She also endeared herself to her fans with her video freestyles, which she would share on her social media pages.

Between 2016 and 2019, Teni’s career was on a fast track rise. She released her hit songs ‘Askamaya’ and ‘Case’ to rave reviews from the public. She also won the Rookie of the Year at the Headies Awards in 2018. Her last body of work, her debut album, ‘Wondaland’ is a compilation of her experiences in different cities like Lagos, Abuja, London and New York, to name a few.

In October 2022, The Nigerian government conferred on Teni the highest award for a Nigerian citizen. The award is called Member of the Order of the Niger (MON). President Muhammadu Buhari conferred the Nigerian National Award on Teni.
