Afrobeat superstar Seun Kuti has expressed his outrage and disappointment after being denied the opportunity to open a bank account at Guaranty Trust Bank (GTB) in London.
Kuti revealed that he attempted to open an account with £10,000, but was told that the minimum required amount was £50,000, approximately N106m.
Additionally, Seun Kuti, an activist criticized the bank's high demands, especially considering Nigeria's economic situation. Also, he recounted how he walked out of the bank hall in shame, accompanied by his manager and friend. They laughed at him for thinking £10,000 was sufficient to open a foreign account.
Meanwhile, Kuti's experience has sparked controversy, with many Nigerians taking to social media to express their own frustrations with the banking system.
