The rapper was released from jail in the US after he agreed to enter a guilty plea to a gang-related charge. Following his release, Gunna had released a statement through his defence attorney Steve Sadow, saying he took an Alford plea which is a guilty plea where a defendant maintains their innocence but admits that the prosecution's evidence would likely result in a guilty verdict if brought to trial.
Speaking on his affiliation with YSL, Gunna stated that when he'd gotten related with YSL in 2016, he did not consider it a "gang" but more like a group of people who had common interests and artistic aspirations.
