Popular Nigerian singer, Habeeb Okikiola, better known as Portable, has criticized his colleague Crown Uzama, known as Shallipopi, following the success of Shallipopi's sophomore album Shakespopi.
Portable took to his Instagram stories on Saturday, April 13, 2024, to express his displeasure after Shallipopi's new album overtook his hit song Tony Montana on Apple Music Nigeria.
Portable's song Tony Montana, featuring British-Nigerian rapper, Skepta, had been the number-one song on the platform since its release on March 1, 2024. However, Shallipopi's album Shakespopi, released on Friday, April 12, 2024, managed to displace Tony Montana, pushing it to the 10th spot on the charts.
Portable accused Shallipopi of using streaming farms to boost his album's performance, expressing disbelief at the sudden chart dominance. In his statement, Portable criticized Shallipopi's music and questioned its authenticity, saying, "Oh boy, make you rest; man pass man o. Before you could remove my song, you had to drop an album. Your song no get meaning, is that a song? Can't you praise God? na me be the landlord and you no fit commot me fake like boy."
Shakespopi includes nine singles that have all managed to surpass Tony Montana on the streaming charts. Shallipopi's album was released just six months after his debut, Presido La Pluto, which was also well-received by audiences.
