The Afrobeat musician has been granted bail by a Lagos court after he was charged to court by the Nigerian Police.
The Nigerian police force has been reported to have stormed the house of Ace Afrobeat musician Seun Kuti for a search.
The Grammy-nominated singer became a nationwide topic after he was seen on video assaulting a police officer on the third mainland bridge in Lagos. Following the shocking incident, the Nigerian police force proceeded to arrest Seun Kuti in the early hours of today, Monday, May 15, 2023.
According to several reports, officers of the Lagos State Police Command stormed the Akin Osiyemi residence of Seun Kuti on Tuesday, May 17, 2023, off Allen Avenue, Ikeja, Lagos, searching for further evidence to nail the singer.

According to reports, the policemen took the musician along during the search while they combed his apartment and eventually seized his wife's phone when they were done.
Seun was charged with assault on a police officer, an offence contrary to Section 356 of the Criminal Code Act. The singer has been granted bail after Magistrate Adeola Olatunbosun ordered police to complete their investigation within 48 hours.
