This accomplishment has secured him the ninth position among Nigerian artists who have surpassed a billion streams collectively on Spotify. Omah Lay, known for his Afrobeat style, is highly relatable as his songs delve into his personal experiences, providing a sense of authenticity for listeners.

This connection to real-life experiences has been labelled as Afrodepression, not due to the melancholic nature of the songs but because of their genuine and authentic expression. The deluxe edition of the 'Boy Alone' album, unveiled in 2022, comprises 20 tracks filled with soulful melodies. In an interview with Beat 103.6 FM, the singer shared that the album serves as an ode to his emotions, marking a shift from being a creator of vibes to an artist who candidly explores the world's anxieties, fears, and underlying mental burdens.

During his interview with Beat 103.6 FM when talking about the sound evolution of Africa he said, “I have started a new sound. I feel like the sound people identify as Afrobeats is going to change in 2024/2025, in the future. And I’m going to be one of the leaders of the new sound. I have started a new sound of Afrobeats and you’re going to hear more of that in 2024. ‘Holy Ghost’ is one of them. And I’m putting out an album. The album is going to consist of all of these new vibes".

Omah Lay has offered a glimpse of his upcoming single, unveiling a snippet of the anticipated track. The artist engaged with fans during a live chat on January 22, 2024.
