Nigerian stars shine at 2024 Glastonbury music festival

Nigerian music stars took Afrobeat and Afrobeats to the 2024 Glastonbury Music Festival, which saw an attendance of over 200,000 people.

Meanwhile, as one of the United Kingdom’s biggest music events, the festival attracts thousands of fans from around the world.

Basically, the 2024 edition, held from June 26 to 30, 2024 featured Nigerian artists Femi Kuti, Ayra Starr, and Burna Boy among the lineup of global stars. Additionally, Ayra Starr, who recently released her sophomore album, The Year I Turned 21, performed on June 28. She thrilled the audience with her hit singles, including a spirited performance of her 2022 hit Sability.

Furthermore, Grammy winner, Tems returned to the Glastonbury stage after her 2022 performance. She treated the audience to renditions of her hit singles, including tracks from her recently released debut album Born In The Wild.

Also, Burna Boy performed on June 30, just hours after selling out the London Stadium for the second time in a historic concert. The Grammy winner delivered a collection of his smash hits, with the audience particularly demanding Last Last.

Consequently, Afrobeat legend, Femi Kuti and his son, Made Kuti, delivered a memorable performance. This was before joining British band Coldplay on stage for a rendition of their collaboration Arabesque. Additionally, Burna Boy and British rapper, Little Simz also joined Coldplay on stage for the premiere of their unreleased collaboration We Pray.

Nonetheless, this marks Burna Boy’s first collaboration with the 7-time Grammy-winning band. The band's lead singer, Chris Martin featured on Burna Boy’s Monsters You Made from his Grammy-winning fifth album Twice As Tall.
