A delegation from the Musical Copyright Society Nigeria (MCSN), led by Juju legend King Sunny Ade and reggae icon Orits Wiliki, visited the family of the late music icon Onyeka Onwenu on Tuesday, August 6.
The group, which included notable figures such as Tee Mac, Kenny Ogungbe, and Mayowa Ayilaran, gathered at the Onwenu family's Ikoyi residence in Lagos to offer condolences and pay tribute to the legendary singer.
King Sunny Ade delivered a heartfelt prayer for Onyeka's sons, Abraham and Tijani Ogunlende. Also, he praised the late musician, saying, "Musicians who have done well like that don't die because their names will still be ringing in the whole world."
Additionally, Mayowa Ayilaran, MCSN's general manager, eulogized Onyeka Onwenu as an exceptional producer and performer. He described her as the epitome of inventiveness and artistic brilliance.
Meanwhile, the Onwenu family expressed their gratitude for the visit. They stated their desire to honor their mother's wishes by holding her burial ceremony soon. Lastly, the visit was proof of the impact and legacy of Onyeka Onwenu, who continues to be celebrated by the music industry and fans alike.
