Iyanya debunks allegations against Ubi Franklin over Miami wedding watch

Nigerian singer Iyanya has stepped forward to dismiss rumours claiming that popular artiste manager Ubi Franklin stole a luxury wristwatch during Davido’s wedding in Miami over the weekend.

The allegations first surfaced online on Wednesday, August 13, 2025 following a report by a blog, sparking widespread speculation on social media. Iyanya, however, revealed that the story was fabricated to tarnish Franklin’s reputation by individuals who do not favor him within Davido’s circle.

On his X (formerly Twitter) handle, Iyanya wrote: "This is a big lie. The jeweler has come out to deny this; it was a gist fabricated to tarnish Ubi’s name by those who don’t like him in that circle. I will not let my brother be dragged for nothing."

Ubi Franklin also addressed the controversy on his X handle, describing the claims as false and misleading. He confirmed that Benny, the luxury watch dealer, had already debunked the theft allegations.

The viral rumours suggested that Franklin had allegedly taken the watch after visiting Benny, only to later claim he found it in his pocket. Some reports claimed Benny threatened to involve law enforcement. However, Iyanya emphasized that these accounts were completely untrue, reiterating that the entire incident was being circulated to damage Franklin’s image.

The intervention of Iyanya has been widely applauded by fans who see it as a firm rebuttal to the unfounded claims and a show of support for Ubi Franklin.
