Nigerian Afropop singer Adekunle Gold has opened up about his deep sense of family responsibility, saying he would rather fail as a musician than fail as a father or husband.

Speaking in a recent interview, the Obimo crooner explained that his wife, Simi, and their daughter, Adejare, are the most important parts of his life. He described his family as his “centre,” noting that his greatest motivation comes from wanting to give his daughter a better life than he had growing up.

“All I want is to do more for my daughter because I can’t afford to let her experience the kind of life I had. It has to be way better, and that’s why I keep working hard,” Adekunle Gold said.

The award-winning artist, known for his blend of Afropop and soulful sounds, also reflected on how fatherhood has reshaped his priorities. While music has brought him global success, he said that family remains his true measure of fulfillment.

“I can afford to be a failed musician, not a failed father or man. That’s not negotiable,” he emphasized.

Adekunle Gold, who has been married to Simi since 2019, continues to be praised for his authenticity, both in his music and in his personal life, showing that behind the spotlight, he remains deeply grounded in love, family and responsibility.
