Nigerian music superstar Davido has sparked conversation with a bitcoin request for his wedding well-wishers.
According to a now-viral video clip circulating on social media, Davido can be seen urging attendees at his recent wedding to Chioma Rowland to consider giving Bitcoin as a gift.
"I dey here, cash app na dollar. One Bitcoin na how much again?" the singer asks the crowd, referring to a popular digital payment platform. "[In English: I'm here, Cash App is for dollars. How much is one Bitcoin again?]
He also adds, "spray na Naira [In English: spraying money is Naira]," the Nigerian currency. He then continued "If you no fit spray Naira and I no want 'OBO I go give you tomorrow', I no want that one." [In English: If you can't spray Naira and I don't want 'OBO I go give you tomorrow,' I don't want that.]
Davido's request has divided social media users. Some fans applaud his move towards digital currency, while others find it ostentatious or unnecessary.
