After a period of introspection and reflection on a meteoric rise, Ghanaian superstar Black Sherif has officially confirmed the release date for his first single and music video of 2026.
In an intimate and deeply personal statement shared via his Substack, the "Kweku The Traveller" hitmaker revealed that his new project will arrive this Friday at 5:57 AM.
The announcement wasn't just a date; it was a manifesto. Writing to his fans, Sherif took a look back at the "hurdles and sleepless nights" that defined his early career. He touched on the emotional weight of his journey from being told as a 17-year-old that his voice "wasn't good enough" to selling out back-to-back nights in London and hosting over 20,000 people in a stadium.
"Nothing was handed to us," Sherif wrote. "We worked late nights into early mornings... It took time to realize these stab wounds had to happen for us to realize how great we were to become."
The statement also offered a rare glimpse into the artist's private life, mentioning mornings spent on the balcony of his first property and late-night drives taken "just to feel human again." Sherif credited his long-term collaborator, Obala, recalling the days they worked on cracked phone screens before the fame and the cameras.
Sherif spoke about how the legal battles and personal trials that have shaped his music, specifically mentioning the closure of a long-standing case that brought his mother to tears. "No one in their right minds would still be here," he admitted, highlighting the mental fortitude required to stay at the top of the Afrobeats scene.
Fans won't have to wait long for the first chapter of Sherif's 2026 era. The new song and its accompanying video are set to drop this Friday at 5:57 AM ("Top of the Morning").
