30-year-old William Ekong, the centre-back for Super League Greece club PAOK and captains the Nigeria national team,m received recognition from Total Energies despite the Super Eagles' loss against the Elephants.
He was awarded after the match and also recognized for being the highest-scoring defender in the history of the AFCON. He got that with 5 goals and surpasses Steven Keshi who had held the title with 4 goals to his arsenal.
