We were the first to break the news that Nigerian singer Yemi Alade was planning to deliver a new Swahili banger alongside multi-talented Kenyan artist: Nyashinski. That was back in April. Read the article:
The song titled "Nakupenda" (Swahili for I Love You) comes in two versions: Swahili and French and features in Yemi Alade's recent EP release: Mama Afrique released in June 2017. Co-written by Nyashinksi, the Swahili version of Nakupenda has already got East Africa once again jiggy about Yemi's fluency in the Swahili language. Get the song:
The music video of the song titled "Nakupenda" also just dropped on YouTube! Wedding-themed, the video befits the love song. Watch it:
It was Coke Studio Africa that brought Yemi Alade and Nyashinski together, and allowing their culture exchange. The two were paired on the show last year and together they produced some dope music including the original song "Bad For You" produced by Nigerian music producer: Chopstix.
The two are back on Coke Studio this year. Yemi is paired with French Congolese rapper Youssoupha and Nyashinski is paired with South African legendary music duo: Mafikizolo. As the world waits to watch all of their new music collaborations, we await Yemi's new album "Black Magic" set to drop soon.
In the mean time, Nyashinski has been teasing upcoming new music over Instagram postings. He has been collaborating with young legendary Kenyan producer Cedo - we are waiting for those tracks!
