Rodri has been struggling to remain fit since he returned from the injury that kept him out for the entirety of the 2024/25 season which was a big blow for Manchester City.

Rodri returned to action at the FIFA Club World Cup but has not been able to remain fit for most part of this season. The Spaniard latest injury scare was the Premier League game against Brentford at the Gtek community stadium on Sunday, October 5, 2025.

What did Rodri say about his injury?

Rodri confirmed after the victory over Brentford that Rodri will be out of duty for Spain ahead of the international break as he needs to be monitored.

"I am good. I felt a little bit in the hamstring but it seems like it's not that much. The important thing was the victory. I stretched the leg a little, a bit like in the Euros final. I stretched a little but it's part of the process. I don't feel it, I feel tired muscle wise, I feel fresh but the most important is it's not that big. It's part of the process. The good thing about this is you get out, you don't let the muscle stretch now. The good thing is the break so it will be even better in this sense to recover these days and hopefully I can be in the next game."

Rodri has been a pillar of consistency and control since joining Manchester City in 2019, establishing himself as one of the best defensive midfielders in world football. The Spanish maestro has made over 175 Premier League appearances for City, contributing 22 goals and 21 assists while maintaining a remarkable passing accuracy above 90%.

Pep Guardiola and Manchester City fans will hope that Rodri will be fit after the international break to face Everton.
