
The draw for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) has been officially conducted, setting the stage for an exciting tournament in Morocco.
This will be historic as it marks the first WAFCON edition featuring 16 teams, reflecting the rapid growth of women’s football across the continent. The African champions Nigeria discovered their group-stage opponents as anticipation builds toward one of the most entertaining competition in its history.
The 16 qualified teams have been divided into four groups of four, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the quarter-finals.
The Super Falcons of Nigeria face a tricky Group C that includes a strong Zambia side and North African rivals Egypt, while debutants Malawi will be hoping to make a positive first impression.
The host nation Morocco headline Group A as they are placed in the same group with Algeria, Senegal and Kenya.
Group D appears one of the most competitive, with former finalists Ghana drawn against Cameroon, Mali, and an upcoming Cape Verde team.
Meanwhile, South Africa will look to assert their dominance in Group B against Ivory Coast, Burkina Faso, and Tanzania.
