Victor Boniface directly responds to questions on his fitness and failed AC Milan move

Victor Boniface, in his first press conference as the latest signing for SV Werder Bremen, has addressed questions on his fitness as well as his failed AC Milan move.

On Wednesday, September 3, 2025, Victor Boniface, during his first press conference as the latest signee for the German Bundesliga side, SV Werder Bremen has officially addressed rumours on his fitness levels and also questions about his failed move to AC Milan in the summer 2025 transfer window.

The Nigerian international, who will be missing out on the 2026 World Cup qualifiers for Africa, when asked how fit he is and if he has fully recovered from his injury, as reported by the media, responded that they can go ahead to believe whatever they want to believe.

He also addressed that if he was not fit, as speculations initially suggested, he would be in the hospital and not at the press conference.

The 24-year-old joined Bremen on a one-year loan from Bayer Leverkusen after a proposed move to AC Milan collapsed due to fitness concerns. Addressing the media in a confident press conference, Boniface also addressed questions on his failed move to AC Milan, indicating that the failed move was not on him, adding that he has a strong mentality and if the deal was meant to happen, it would happen.

He stated, "The Milan deal not going through, that’s not on me. They decided not to go through with. I have a strong mentality… If the deal was meant to happen, it’s meant to happen. If it wasn’t meant to happen, I move on to the next thing…”
