The news was confirmed by UFC President, Dana White, on Monday, February 7th, 2022. White shared the pictures on his official Instagram to show the current state of the UFC fighter.
The surgery is as a result of a broken hand that Usman suffered three weeks before his title rematch against Colby Covington. Despite the injury, Usman still won the fight by unanimous decision for the fifth title defence.
Usman's manager, Ali Abdelaziz while speaking in an interview with ESPN confirmed that his agent will be ready for the International fight week which holds in July 2022, which will play host to the UFC 276. The fighter next opponent is unclear but there are rumours that he might move to the middleweight to fight Isreal Adesanya.
