Tributes from football fans have continued to pour in following the devastating personal loss suffered by Liverpool FC's Mo Salah.
Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah is grieving the death of his grandfather, Ahmed Abdel Aziz Al Bambi, who reportedly passed away on Monday morning, according to Egyptian media outlets.
The news was made public by Salah’s uncle, Abdel Aziz Al Bambi, who is also the head of the Mohamed Salah Youth Centre. In a heartfelt message, he shared the family’s sadness and asked well-wishers to offer prayers for mercy and forgiveness for the deceased.
Funeral rites are expected to be held at the Grand Mosque of Musa in Nagrig, the village where Salah grew up. Large numbers of locals and supporters from the surrounding community are anticipated to attend the prayers before the burial, which will take place shortly afterwards.
The loss comes at the conclusion of a demanding spell for the Egypt international. On Sunday night, Salah was in action for Liverpool in their Premier League clash against Manchester City, a match the Reds lost 2–1.
It is not yet known if the winger will be able to travel to Egypt for the funeral, given his ongoing commitments with his club.
