Super Eagles' number-one shot-stopper, Stanley Nwabali, has written his name in the history of Nigerian football following his impressive performance at the AFCON 2023.
Nigeria are on the quest to win the tournament for the fourth time in their history, a feat that they last achieved in 2013. The Chippa United goalkeeper has kept four clean sheets in the competition, with the team just conceding one goal at the tournament.
Nwabali became the first Super Eagles goalkeeper to achieve four consecutive clean sheets in a major tournament in 44 years. The last goalkeeper to achieve this feat for Nigeria was Best Ogedegbe in 1980 when the team secured its first continental title.
Nwabali conceded a goal in the opening game against Equatorial Guinea but has not conceded a goal since, he kept clean sheets against Ivory Coast, Guinea-Bissau, Cameroon, and Angola.
