Serena Williams Drops Hint of Retirement from Tennis

Former World Number 1, Serena Williams has given a hint that she might be calling it quit on the sports.

The American was speaking at a press conference after winning her first game for the first time in a year since her victory at the French Open in 2021. Williams beat Nuria Parrizas-Diaz 6-3, 6-4 at the women's National Bank Open in Canada to record her first singles victory in 430 days.

I guess there's just a light at the end of the tunnel. I don't know, I'm getting closer to the light, so… lately, that's been it for me. I can't wait to get to that light. I love playing, though ... but, you know, I can't do this forever. Sometimes you just want to try your best to enjoy the moments, and do the best that you can.

There are indications that Serena Williams might hang her racket at the end of the US Open which will be played from August 29th 2022 to September 11th, 2022.
