Sadio Mane becomes the owner of a football club

Senegalese international Sadio Mane has been confirmed as the latest player to reinvest in the game of football by buying the football club.

An official announcement from the fourth division French football club, Bourges Foot 18, which was made on Wednesday, October 25, 2023, Senegal's captain and talisman Sadio Mane has been confirmed to be the new owner of the club.

The club president, Cheikh Sylla, confirmed that Mane is heavily invested in the club's success and has  “laid the foundations for the professionalisation of the club”, setting a new goal of Bourges Foot 18 receiving promotion into the Ligue 2 by 2030.

Sylla also said, “[Sadio] doesn’t come there to trade and get rich on us in a few years, but he doesn’t come to invest millions at a loss either.” 

Mane communicated with the club in a video chat session where he expressed his delight to be joining the club, and He said, “We’ve been working with the city for the past three years,” Mane said. “We’re here to nurture and organise the club. The challenge is immense, but if the people of Bourges remain involved, I’m confident we can achieve our goals. I believe I’ll be visiting Bourges very soon.”
