The captain of the Algerian men's football team, Riyad Mahrez has completed his move from Manchester City to Saudi Arabian side, Al Ahli.
Al Ahli confirmed the transfer news in a video posted on its official Twitter account on Friday, July 28, 2023. Riyad Mahrez was left out of City’s pre-season tour squad and has now signed a three-year contract, with an option to extend by an extra year at the Saudi Pro League side.
Mahrez thanked everyone at Manchester City for the support that was shown to him during his time at the Premier League side.
"To play for Manchester City has been an honour and privilege. I came to City to win trophies and enjoy my football and I achieved all that and so much more. I have had five unforgettable years with this football club, working with unbelievable players, fantastic supporters, and the best manager in the world."
He made 236 appearances, scoring 78 goals and 59 assists during his time with the Cityzens. He won 11 major trophies with City and won a treble in his final season, which includes four Premier League titles, as well as two FA Cups, three Carabao Cups, two Community Shield successes and the UEFA Champions League.
