Former Manchester United player Rasmus Holjund has opened up on his decision to leave Old Trafford to join Napoli.
The e Danish striker admitted he felt he had little choice but to move on to joining SSC Napoli on loan in 2025, . Højlund said he had no choice but to leave United”, highlighting frustrations over his situation at Old Trafford.
The Danish forward was speaking in an interview while he was on international duty with his national team. According to him, the best decision he made was leaving Manchester United at the time that he did.
"it felt like it was over for me at one point. Here at Napoli, I’ve rediscovered my love for football. People even back in Denmark were writing me off, but I never stopped believing. If we look at the recent periods at Manchester United I did NOT perform well.. I’m aware of that, but now many things have changed. They even said I was finished in Denmark.. but I never gave up. At Napoli, I feel joy again."
He is convinced he made the right call, noting that his decision to leave was justified as he began rediscovering his form in Italy. Hojlund's performances have improved significantly.
