Chelsea's midfielder, Raheem Sterling has completed a loan move to Arsenal Football Club for the remainder of the 2024/25 season.

Arsenal confirmed the news on its official website in the early hours of Saturday, August 30, 2024. Raheem Sterling completed the deal on the final day of the 2024 summer transfer window having been told by Chelsea's head coach, Enzo Maresca that he was not part of the team going forward.

Raheem Sterling joined Chelsea from Manchester City in 2022 for a £47.5 million fee and has made 81 appearances for the west London club since then. This move to north London sees the midfielder reunite with Mikel Arteta having previously worked under the Spanish coach during his time at City.

Arteta, who won two Premier League titles as Pep Guardiola’s assistant, is a huge admirer of the midfielder. Sterling won four Premier League titles and one FA Cup after joining City from Liverpool in 2015.

What did Raheem Sterling say about his move to Arsenal?

Sterling expressed his excitement on the club's website just a few minutes after he was announced as an Arsenal player.

He said,

"Hey Gooners, It's Raheem here, I am super excited to be shining for Arsenal and I can't wait to see you all at the Emirates. It is an amazing stadium and I can't wait to see you all to show you exactly what I can do. Joining Arsenal is really an unbelievable feeling. I’m buzzing. This is a perfect fit for me! You see the journey the boys are on, and the hunger, and I keep saying again, the togetherness is something I’m looking to be part of”.

Arsenal fans will hope that this deal will bring success their way when it matters most in the season. He becomes the first player ever to play for Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal after Nicolas Anelka.
