Premier League announces nominees for player of the month for September 2024

Eight players have been nominated for the player of the month award for September 2024, who have shown impressive performance to their various teams in the last month.

These players have made significant contributions to their teams in September. Some of the outstanding players include Gabriel, who scored headers against Tottenham and Manchester City, and Cole Palmer made history by scoring four goals in the first half of a Premier League game for Chelsea.

Here are the nominated players for the Premier League of the month award

Harvey Barnes (Newcastle)

Barnes scored in three of his four September appearances. The winger netted the opener in a 2-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur, a stunning long-range winner late on at Wolverhampton Wanderers, and a consolation strike in a loss at Fulham.

Luis Diaz (Liverpool)

Diaz scored four goals in as many matches which includes a first-half brace in a 3-0 win at Manchester United before scoring twice again in a home victory over AFC Bournemouth by the same scoreline.

Gabriel Magalhaes (Arsenal)

The Arsenal defender scored the winner in the north London derby at Spurs before another headed goal in a 2-2 draw at Manchester City. In three September appearances, he had six shots, the joint-most of any defender, as well as making five blocks.

Ryan Gravenberch (Liverpool)

The Dutchman played every minute of Liverpool's matches as they stormed to the top of the table. Impressing in the No 6 role, he won possession a league-high 29 times in September, as well as completing the most passes (231) of any midfielder, and winning 28 duels, the sixth-most of all players.

Raul Jimenez (Fulham)

The Fulham forward player scored in all three of his September matches as Fulham went unbeaten. He scored the opening goals in a 1-1 draw with West Ham United and a 3-1 win over Newcastle, before his penalty ended Nottingham Forest's unbeaten start, becoming the second Mexican in Premier League history to reach 50 goals

Dwight McNeil (Everton)

He was directly involved in four of Everton's five goals in the month. He got a goal and an assist in a 3-2 loss at Aston Villa before scoring twice, his first being a stunner from long range, to inspire a 2-1 turnaround win over Crystal Palace to give his side a first victory of the season.

Cole Palmer (Chelsea)

The Chelsea midfielder scored five goals and six-goal involvements were both the most of all Premier League players. He registered an assist in a draw with Crystal Palace, he scored in a 3-0 win at West Ham before making history in a 4-2 victory over Brighton & Hove Albion, becoming the first player ever to score four goals in the first half of a Premier League match.

Ollie Watkins (Aston Villa)

He scored or assisted in each of Villa's three matches, inspiring Villa to a 3-2 turnaround win over Everton with two goals, before kick-starting another comeback victory with the equaliser in a 3-1 win over Wolves. Watkins ended the month with a goal and an assist in a 2-2 draw at Ipswich Town.
