The opening weekend of the 2023/24 Premier League season will give football fans a mouth-watering fixture between Chelsea and Liverpool.
Chelsea and Liverpool are coming into the game, which will be played at Stamford Bridge on Sunday, August 13, 2023, with a point to prove that the 2022/23 season was just a fluke. Both teams had one of the worst runs in the history of their clubs in recent seasons, the Blues finished in 12th place while the Reds finished in fifth place.
Chelsea have been busy in the summer transfer market, buying and selling players. They brought in players like Christopher Nkunku, Axel Disasi, Nicolas Jackson, Lesly Ugochukwu, Robert Sanchez.
However, some of the first team players which include Kai Havertz, Mason Mount, Mateo Kovacic, Kalidou Koulibaly, Christian Pulisic, Edouard Mendy, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Ethan Ampadu, N’Golo Kante, Cesar Azpilicueta, and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, were all sold during the transfer window.
On the other hand, Liverpool have not been as busy as Chelsea signing a few players. The Reds brought in Dominik Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister but also let go of players like Fabinho, Jordan Henderson, Roberto Firmino, Naby Keita, and James Milner.
