According to reports from Le Parisien, a possible Kylian Mbappe kidnap attempt was stopped following the arrest of an 18-year-old.
Real Madrid and France star Kylian Mbappé was reportedly among 26 people allegedly targeted in a kidnapping and home invasion plot uncovered by French authorities.
According to Le Parisien, an 18-year-old man has been charged in connection with a series of alleged organised robberies, home invasions and planned kidnappings carried out or prepared between April 11 and August 19.
Prosecutors allege that the suspect was involved in plans targeting wealthy business owners, a rapper and Mbappé, one of the most prominent footballers in the world.
The investigation reportedly began following an attack on a watchmaker in Neuilly-sur-Seine in April. Authorities subsequently linked the 18-year-old to a wider network allegedly planning further attacks and kidnappings in several parts of France.
The suspect was formally charged in Nanterre on August 21 and remanded in custody. He has also been placed in isolation, while an alleged accomplice was released under judicial supervision.
