Former Manchester City player, Sergio Aguero has announced his retirement from football because of his heart condition.
The 33-year-old was emotional in his press conference at Camp Nou, Barcelona on Wednesday, December 15th, 2021. This is where he confirmed that he will retire from the sport. Aguero was substituted in the 33rd minute in a La Liga game against Alaves in October 2021 after receiving medical help on the pitch to treat the chest pains.
This conference is to communicate that I have decided to stop playing football. It is a very difficult moment. The decision I have made I have taken for my health, that is the main reason, because of the problem that i had a month-and-a-half ago. I was in good hands of the medical staff who have done their best and told me the best thing would be to stop playing. So I made that decision about a week ago and I want to tell everyone I did everything possible to have hope, but there was not very much.
Aguero joined Barcelona from Manchester City during the summer of 2021 as a free agent after Argentine's triumph at the 2021 Copa America at the expense of bitter rivals Brazil.
