NFF reportedly open talks with Tosin Adarabioyo for a switch of allegiance

The Nigerian Football Federation ( NFF) reportedly opened talks with Chelsea's defender, Tosin Adarabioyo to switch his allegiance to play for Nigeria.

There are reports that officials of the NFF have contacted Tosin Adarabioyo to persuade him to make the switch. The player previously declined two approaches, including one from coach Jose Peseiro in 2023 ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations, where Nigeria reached the final but lost to Cote d’Ivoire.

However, the NFF hopes to achieve a similar outcome to the successful recruitment of players like Ademola Lookman, who switched allegiances in 2021. He joined Chelsea on a free transfer earlier this summer after severing with Fulham.

The Chelsea defender has represented England at the youth level but he is still eligible to play for Nigeria having not played for the Three Lions. The NFF are hoping that they can convince Tosin the same way they did with Ademola Lookman who also did not immediately agree to play for the Super Eagles.
