Mohamed Salah has continued to spark controversy regarding his future at the club following the decision of Arne Slot to leave him out of the first team in the last three games.

Following the media speculation after it was confirmed by Arne Slot that Mohamed Salah will not travel with the rest of the squad for the UEFA Champions League game against Inter Milan. The Egyptian King, as he is popularly called, posted a picture of himself in the gym all alone by himself without anyone else in the picture without any caption on his official social media accounts on Tuesday, December 9, 2025.

Salah suggested he felt “thrown under the bus,” insisting he has given everything to Liverpool and deserved better treatment after years of consistency and loyalty. He hinted at broken promises from the club during the summer and admitted that his relationship with manager Arne Slot has deteriorated to the point where “there is no relationship anymore.”

Liverpool, meanwhile, opted not to take any formal disciplinary action against Salah, but the decision to drop him was seen as a response to his public outburst. Slot confirmed that he simply informed the forward he “was not travelling,” keeping the discussion brief and signalling the club’s desire to avoid escalation.

Alisson Becker also weighed in, saying Salah’s absence was “a consequence of what he said,” underscoring the belief within the squad that the situation could have been avoided.

Liverpool face Brighton in their next Premier League game which is the last game before the Africa Cup of Nations. However, there are no indicators if he will return to Anfield next year after the AFCON.
