Arsenal drop to third on the Premier League table after Manchester City's win against Crystal Palace earlier in the day, which made the fixture against Brighton a must-win to stay in the title race. Arsenal began the game like a team with a strong desire to return to their previous position on top. The opening exchanges of the match saw Gabriel, Gabriel Jesus, Bukayo Saka, and Kai Havertz all having opportunities to score a goal.
Eventually, Jesus was played down the left flank, dribbled into the box, and was brought down by Tariq Lamptey, resulting in a penalty. After a quick VAR check, Saka stepped up and scored the Gunners' ninth penalty kick of the season, giving them the lead.
In the second half, Arsenal continued to dominate and eventually doubled their lead with a goal from Havertz, his 10th of the season, finishing off a lovely team move. Havertz then provided the assist for Leandro Trossard, playing the Belgian in behind superbly for him to secure the points and send Arsenal top by making it 3-0.
