The manager of Arsenal Football Club, Mikel Arteta has confirmed that his latest signing, Mikel Merino will be out for a few weeks after picking up an injury in training.

Mikel Arteta confirmed the injury to the Spaniard international during his pre-match press conference ahead of the lunchtime kick-off against Brighton at the Amex Stadium. According to him, Mikel Merino suffered a fracture after he collided with Gabriel Magalhaes in training.

He said,

"Yes very unfortunate. Yesterday he had a collision and he has got a shoulder injury, unfortunately. It looks like he is going to be out for a few weeks. He was really excited and everything was looking really good. He landed on the floor and Gabi landed on top of him and it looks like he has a small fracture probably. We have to see. He was in so much pain, we have to wait to do some more tests."

Mikel Merino completed his move from Real Sociedad earlier this week for a said to be around the region of £31.6 million on a long term deal.

Arsenal supporters will hope that they can continue in their 100% record when they host Brighton following their wins over West Ham United and Aston Villa.
