Michael Carrick signs contract extension with Manchester United

Michael Carrick has signed a new contract extension with Manchester United after an impressive spell as head coach at Old Trafford.

The news of the new contract was announced on the official website of Manchester United after their final home game against Nottingham Forest. Manchester UnitedAccording to multiple reports, Carrick has agreed a two-year deal with an option for an additional year, which could keep him at the club until 2029.

The former United midfielder has transformed the team since taking charge earlier this year, guiding the Red Devils back into the UEFA Champions League places while recording major wins against rivals including Manchester City, Arsenal, Liverpool, and Chelsea.

The move was facilitated by Manchester United executives Omar Berrada and Jason Wilcox, who reportedly believe Carrick is the right man to lead the club into a new era after his strong performances as interim boss. The new deal would allow Carrick to continue shaping the squad ahead of next season, with Manchester United expected to back him during the summer transfer window as they aim to challenge for major trophies once again.

The 44-year-old won 11 of his 16 matches in charge, including major victories against Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea, and Manchester City, convincing the club’s hierarchy that he was the right man to lead the project permanently.

Manchester United fans will hope for a better outing in the 2026/27 season across all competitions which include the Carabao Cup, FA Cup, the UEFA Champions League and the Premier League.
