Chelsea's head coach, Mauricio Pochettino, has been scrutinised by supporters of the club and rival fans following his performance since the 2023/24 season kicked off.

The Argentine has shed light on some of the problems that the club is currently facing. Mauricio Pochettino was speaking in a press conference ahead of the Carabao Cup game against Brighton and Hove Albion in the competition's third round.

"I think the belief is what I like most about the Chelsea team. In a very short time that we are together. Realistically, we only started after the transfer window closed. In a few weeks, the team get what we wanted and we are showing the ideas and the way we dominate the game. Every single football person sees Chelsea deserve more but we need goals, we cannot forget that. We need to get criticised of course but we need to keep being strong in the belief. We cannot show less than we are showing and that is the way we are going to change our luck."

Chelsea have failed to score in their last three games ( Nottingham Forest, Bournemouth, and Aston Villa); they are currently in 14th position. This is the team's worst start since the 1978/79 football season.

However, Pochettino will hope his team can get a win against high-flying Brighton. A victory against the Seagulls will give the supporters something to cheer about ahead of their league game against Fulham on Monday, October 2, 2023.
