Chelsea supporters suffered a heart ache as they wrap up their 2023 pre-season tour in their final game against Borussia Dortmund.

Christopher Nkunku was substituted by Mykhailo Mudryk in the first 20 minutes. The French midfielder picked up a knock in the game against the Bundesliga club, the player went down clutching his knee in the penalty area.

Mauricio Pochettino confirmed that the player was been examined by the team's doctors but he hopes it is not a serious injury.

"The doctors are checking him and I hope it is not a big issue. He fell in the action which was maybe a penalty and he feels something in his knee but we hope it is nothing big. We hope he can be back quickly with the team. We need a few days to assess him."

The field was a major concern for both teams heading into the game but they decided to go ahead with the match.

"We took some risks because the pitch is not perfect because the facilities are used for a different sport. We won't blame the pitch for the injury though. For me, it was bad luck".

Chelsea supporters will hope the player will be fit before their first league game against Liverpool on Sunday, August 13, 2023.
