Marcus Rashford takes decision on his future at Man United

Marcus Rashford’s future continues to be a major talking point as speculation grows over whether he could return to Manchester United following his loan spell at Barcelona.

Multiple reports are suggesting that a return to Old Trafford is looking increasingly unlikely, with the England international focused on securing regular football ahead of the 2026 World Cup. Rashford has enjoyed a more stable run of games in Spain, and that has played a key role in shaping his current stance on his next move.

Barcelona remain central to the conversation. The La Liga giants reportedly have an option to make Rashford’s move permanent for a fee in the region of £26–30 million, and club officials are understood to be satisfied with his performances so far.

Barcelona's head coach, Hansi Flick, has publicly challenged Rashford to maintain consistency. Still, behind the scenes, Barcelona is said to value his experience and versatility in attack, keeping the door open for a long-term stay.

From Manchester United’s perspective, the situation is more complicated. While there have been suggestions that figures connected to the club, including former players, would welcome Rashford back under the right circumstances, there is no clear indication that the current sporting project is aligned with the player’s ambitions.

The ongoing uncertainty around United’s long-term managerial direction and squad rebuild has made a return less appealing at this stage. Unless there is a significant change in United’s sporting structure or a breakdown in negotiations with Barcelona, Rashford is expected to prioritise continuity and regular minutes elsewhere.
