Manchester United's forward player, Marcus Rashford justified his place in the starting eleven in England's final group game against Wales.

There were a lot of criticism from the English supporters following the team selection by the head coach, Gareth Southgate in the game against the USA. However, Rashford wrote his name in the history books for the Three Lions against Wales.

He is the first Manchester United player to score three goals in a major tournament for England since Sir Bobby Charlton did at the FIFA World Cup in 1966. Rashford achieved this feat in the opening group game against Iran where he scored a goal and against Wales where he scored two goals.

England finished top of their World Cup group for the first time since 2006 when they were eventually eliminated by Portugal in the quarter-final stage. The victory against Wales ensured that England finished top of Group B ahead of the USA. The Three Lions will face Senegal on Saturday, December 3rd, 2022.
