Chelsea have received a welcome boost with Marco Palestra returning to training as he continues his recovery from injury.

The young Italian defender has been sidelined after suffering a quad injury during pre-season, delaying his competitive debut for the Blues. This injury has been a big blow to the Blues since the start of the 2026/27 season.

Palestra joined Chelsea from Atalanta and made a positive impression during the club’s pre-season preparations. His versatility and ability to operate as a wing-back have made him an interesting option for Chelsea’s coaching staff.

The left-back's return to training represents an important step in his rehabilitation, although the club is expected to manage his comeback carefully rather than rushing him into competitive action. Chelsea have dealt with several fitness concerns during the early part of the campaign, making the return of another squad member particularly encouraging.

Palestra will now look to build up his fitness and sharpness in training before being considered for selection. If his recovery continues without setbacks, the defender could soon be in contention to make his long-awaited Chelsea debut.

For Palestra, the immediate priority will be regaining full fitness and adapting to the demands of competitive football after his spell on the sidelines.
