Real Madrid have reportedly reached a verbal agreement with Chelsea for the signing of Spanish left-back Marc Cucurella.
Transfer news expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed via his official X account on Sunday, June 14, 2026 that the player have agreed in principle to the move, with the transfer expected to be completed after the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The move comes as a major surprise, as Cucurella had been linked with both FC Barcelona and Atlético Madrid in recent months. However, Real Madrid, under manager appear to have moved quickly to secure the Spain international's signature.
Mourinho reportedly identified Cucurella as his preferred option at left-back due to his experience and consistency at the highest level. There are differences on the transfer fee, with estimates ranging from €40 million to over €60 million, although most sources suggest the final package will exceed €50 million.
Cucurella joined Chelsea from Brighton & Hove Albion in 2022 and has since become one of the club's most important defenders. During his time at Stamford Bridge, he made more than 160 appearances and established himself as a regular for the Spanish national team.
If completed, the transfer would mark another significant addition to Mourinho's rebuilding project at Real Madrid, as the club continues to strengthen its squad ahead of the new season.
