The Red Devils achieved this unbearable feat on the second match day of the Premier League when they travelled to play Brentford. The Manchester Club lost the game by four first-half goals from the London club popularly known as the Bees.

Brentford are just the third side to score four goals against Manchester United in the first half of a Premier League game after Tottenham in October 2020 and Liverpool in October 2021.

The defeat to Brentford saw Manchester United finish the game week bottom of the Premier League table with zero points and a minus-six goal deficit. The manager of the club, Erik Ten Hag also became the first Manchester manager to lose its opening two League games for the first time in over 100 years.

The Red Devils will play Liverpool in their next league game on Monday, August 22nd, 2022. The Reds beat Manchester United 9-0 on aggregate in the league last season.
