Manchester United duo set to miss Community Shield clash against Manchester City

Manchester United could be without the duo of Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof ahead of the Community Shield clash against Manchester City in the curtain-raiser of the 2024/25 Premier League season.

Both players were on Manchester United’s pre-season tour in the United States which saw them get few minutes. Maguire has been recovering from a calf injury that had sidelined him from England’s European Championship squad, while Lindelof was dealing with a minor knock.

The former Manchester United captain played for just one half in the games against Real Betis and Arsenal but missed the defeat to Liverpool. Lindelof also played one half but in the games against Betis and Liverpool.

Manchester United confirmed that both players could be ruled out of the game which will be a big blow when they face the Premier League Champions. Erik Ten Hag is expected to give more details about the fitness of the players when he faces the press ahead of the Community Shield.

However, there is more to worry about for the Red Devils as they will be without the team's latest signing Leny Yoro who suffered an injury also in the team's preseason game against the Cityzens.
