Sky Sports News confirmed the news on its website on Friday, January 21st, 2022. According to reports from the website, Alvarez's release clause is placed between £15 and £17 million, his current contract runs until December 2022.
Alvarez has gotten the attention of top clubs in Europe and Manchester City are leading the way in signing the Argentine. He has 36 goals and 25 assists to his name for River Plate and also has five appearances for Argentina.
City have been without a striker since the departure of Sergio Aguero and failing to bring Harry Kane from Tottenham during the summer transfer window, Alvarez might be the best bet for the cityzens.
